Immigrant Protections

AIM is committed to standing with our immigrant community members and providing support to protect people’s rights.

We are working in partnership with other organizations and are sharing resources for immigrants.

Current Campaigns

In the 2026 Maryland legislative session, we as part of the Maryland Just Power Alliance are supporting the following immigrant protections:

• Maryland Data Privacy Act (HB0711, SB0504)

• Ending 287(g) Agreements in Maryland (SB245, HB444)

• Community Trust Act (SB791, HB1575)

Victories

In the 2025 Maryland legislative session, we advocated for the Maryland Values Act, which passed. This law will:

• Restrict federal immigration agents from accessing non-public areas within public schools, libraries, and state-funded facilities without a warrant.

• Require state agencies to create policies not to sell or share people’s personal data.
