This week, AIM and the Montgomery County Education Association (MCEA) organized over 50 parents, teachers, students, and community members from Meadow Hall Elementary School to attend a hearing asking the County Council to prioritize key renovations at Meadow Hall in this year’s capital budget.

AIM, as part of the Maryland Just Power Alliance, is supporting several priorities for immigrant protections, housing, and climate equity in this year’s Maryland legislative session.

As part of our 2025 listening campaign, AIM listened to more than 1,800 people in 25 institutions—including congregations, schools, and tenants’ associations.

On Tuesday, April 8, close to 100 people from AIM showed up to the Montgomery County Council budget hearing!

Congratulations! On April 1, the Montgomery County Council unanimously passed the Consumer Protection for Renters bill (6-25), which AIM has been advocating for.

AIM supports the “More Housing NOW” bill, recently introduced in Montgomery County, which would increase our housing options and help reduce housing costs.

AIM supports the "Consumer Protection for Renters" bill introduced by the Montgomery County Council, which would create stronger protections for renters against repeated housing code violations by landlords.

As national changes are impacting our local communities, we at AIM are in solidarity with federal employees, immigrants, and others who are being targeted. We continue to strategically act together at the state and county level to create change for a more just society.

On February 25, 2025, the Montgomery County Council unanimously voted to pass a new Building Energy Performance Standards (BEPS) law!
