Pilar was born and raised in Ecuador. and the youngest of four children, raised only by their mother. As a teenager, she was a skilled swimmer and triathlete. Since she was a child, Pilar wanted to serve people in need. She studied medicine and graduated in the top 5% of her class from Central University of Ecuador (2010). Served people as a primary health doctor in underserved communities. Worked as a physician in the private sector, and then in the public health sector managing the Drug-resistant Tuberculosis program in Pichincha, Ecuador (2013).

She came to the U.S. in 2015. She received her master’s degree in Project Management from Rey Juan Carlos University (Spain, 2018). In 2019 she got her Project Management Professional (PMP®) certification and Agile Hybrid Project Pro micro-credential from the Project Management Institute. In 2021 she received her Master of Business Administration from the European Postgraduate Institute. All the while she was studying, she was raising and taking care of her beloved family as well.  

Pilar is very committed to creating deep connections and building relationships between people — regardless of educational background, social status, or ethnicity — in order to create and make changes that will help everyone thrive and benefit. Pilar has been organizing families to win better living conditions including safer bus stops for children, safer neighborhoods, and defending tenant’s rights. She has been co-leading AIM’s expansion of the pre-kindergarten and dental campaigns. She is also a proud mom of 5 sons. In her free time, she enjoys watching her children playing soccer and flying kites with her youngest son.
