Adama Moussa Harouna
PROJECT ORGANIZER
she / her
Adama first got involved with organizing in 2014 when Action In Montgomery started organizing with parents at South Lake Elementary School. Adama was a key leader in AIM's education equity campaign, playing a key role in convincing the County Council to fund quality after school programming that now serves over 1500 students in 14 Title I Elementary schools.
Through consistent organizing she has been meeting and building relationships with other tenants and parents from the South Lake community. This includes leading a campaign with leaders from Burnt Mills Elementary school to win the complete renovation of two Title I elementary schools which required two years of active campaigning. They are slated to move into the new schools in fall 2023.
Adama and the team at South Lake have also led campaigns to vaccinate hundreds of parents for COVID, improve pedestrian safety, and organize a safe bus stop with parent leaders from the community managing the bus stop every day (300 children use the same bus stop every morning!).
Most recently, Adama has been playing a key role in leading in AIM's Climate Justice campaign.
Originally from Niger, she is raising her three children in Montgomery County.
